Man Returns Home During Raid – Charged with Operating Grow House
BROOKSVILLE – Detectives with Hernando County’s Vice and Narcotics Unit served a warrant on a home at 10193 Maybird Ave, yesterday, after WREC officials alerted them of possible power diversion.
According to officials, 72 amperes were being used, which they say is three times the amount for a house that size. The meter on the home only showed 2-amperes, which was a red flag for authorities.
Inside the home, investigators discovered 52 marijuana plants and 1.8 pounds of processed marijuana. Various other items were seized, including the suspect’s 2001 Ford F-350 pickup truck, used for transporting equipment and facilitating the grow operation, say officials.
38-year-old Yosvany Torres was taken into custody, after he arrived home during the execution of the search warrant. Torres is charged with Marijuana Cultivation, Possession of Marijuana, Paraphernalia, and a Structure for the purpose of manufacturing, Trespass of a Utility Fixture, and Grand Theft. He is currently behind bars, held on $17,000 bond.
