Man Shot During Altercation, Suspect Taken into Custody After Fleeing the Scene
UPDATE: 2:53 P.M. – Officials are still not commenting on the details of today’s shooting, however, witnesses on Chamber Court say the suspect was not charged and was released at the scene.
BROOKSVILLE – A shooting investigation is underway at a residence on Weeping Willow street, after a man was shot during an altercation with an armed suspect.
According to sources, the incident occurred at 8301 Weeping Willow Street, where the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital for treatment.
The suspect fled in a blue Ford compact car and was located a short time later 5031 Chamber Court. The suspect, whose identity has not been released by officials was taken into custody without incident.
Fire Rescue responded to the scene to treat the suspect for facial wounds. It is not known if the suspect was transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment.
Officials are not commenting on the shooting at this time. Family members of the suspect were not happy with news reporters on scene and one man was nearly arrested for making threats to RNRF.
