Man Suspected of Threatening Woman with Handgun Surrenders After Two-Hour Standoff
SPRING HILL – A two hour standoff ended peacefully this morning after sources say a man threatened a woman with a handgun and then barricaded himself inside his home on Holiday Drive.
Just before 10:00 P.M. on Thursday, Deputies responded to 7255 Holiday Drive after a woman reported that a man had pointed a handgun at her during a dispute inside their home. The identities and relationship between the victim and suspect have not yet been confirmed.
At some point during the ordeal the victim was able to leave the residence but the suspect remained barricaded inside and refused to surrender.
A SWAT team responded and began preparations to storm the residence, while deputies continued their efforts to talk the suspect out peacefully.
Just after midnight sources say the man walked out of the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
Neighbors, Courtney Krystina and Joey Mulhall contacted RNRF via Facebook and provided photos of SWAT members who utilized their residence as a staging area.
Courtney says she and Joey remained in a back bedroom with their baby until it was safe to reemerge.
We will bring more on this story after officials have released a full report.
