Man Terrorizes Mother and Sister, While Holding Them Captive
SPRING HILL – On Sunday, deputies responded to 13422 Twinberry Drive, after reports of man attacking his own family and holding them against their will.
According to an arrest affidavit, 28-year-old Cruz Eugene Taylor entered the room of his disabled mother, Lisa Taylor, and demanded that she give him money. When she refused, Cruz became enraged, grabbed a pillow, and placed it over her face, while she lay in her bed. Fearing that she may suffocate, Lisa attempted to push him away, but Cruz grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to the floor. Cruz’ sister, Shante Lowman, overheard the commotion and ran to her mother’s aid. When Shante tried to intervene, Cruz grabbed her by the hair and threw her on a couch.
During the struggle, Shante was able to break free and lock herself and her mother in a bedroom. Moments later, Cruz crashed through the bedroom door, where he found Shante on the phone attempting to call 911. Cruz grabbed the phone, ripped it out of the wall, and threw it across the room.
For nearly an hour, Cruz held his mother and sister against their will, threatening bodily harm if they attempted to leave. Eventually, Shante convinced Cruz to allow her to travel to an ATM to retrieve the money he demanded. While she was gone, Cruz terrorized his mother, by calling her names and threatening to kill her.
Shante returned to the residence with Sheriff’s Deputies, who were able to place Cruz into custody without further incident.
Cruz Eugene Taylor is charged with Assault, Battery, Criminal Mischief, Obstruction of Justice, and Kidnapping. Taylor remains behind bars, held on $19,000 bond.
According to Jail Records, Cruz has a prior charge of possession of cocaine.
