Man Threatens to Kill Detective and Blow up Sheriff’s Office, Detention Center
BROOKSVILLE – With violent attacks against law enforcement officers occurring more often around the country, agencies are taking steps to prevent their own from becoming a statistic and incarcerating those who make threats.
A St. Petersburg man found himself behind bars on Sunday, after threatening to kill a Hernando County Sheriff’s Detective and blow up the Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began on August 12th, 2015, after 69-year-old Ernest Morgan called 911 eight times and threatened to kill Detective Chris Kraft over issues involving his Granddaughter’s case. Morgan made the following statements on a recorded line: “I got a 357 magnum and I’ll shove it right up his god damn bowel and blow his f**king head off!” “I’ll blow your god damn station up, I’d blow his f**king brains out!” “I will blow you motherf**kers up!” “I will kill you and anybody else!” “I will bring my god damn shotgun and blow that motherf**king jailhouse that you are in!” “I wanna come up there and sit right in front of your door with my shotgun, 357 magnum, hollow points. I wanna blow his brains out, and I’m gonna blow out yours too!” “I’m in a bad f**king mood. I’m coming up there; I’m going to your office. I want that god damn detective, you understand?”
Detectives obtained a warrant for Morgan’s arrest, but they were unable to locate him for more than three years. On September 9th of this year, Deputies caught up with Morgan at a Chevron gas station in Brooksville and took him into custody.
Morgan is charged with Making Bomb Threats and Threats to a Public Servant. Morgan posted a $10,000 bond the following day.
