Man’s Jeep Stolen During “Coffee Break”

SPRING HILL – The Dunkin’ Donuts at 4-corners (Spring Hill Drive and Mariner Blvd), is a popular meeting spot for young and old to reminisce, debate, or just relax and enjoy a cup of joe. But the tranquil atmosphere is also the perfect setting for would-be criminals to take advantage of unsuspecting victims who let their guard down, even for a split second. That’s exactly what happened to one couple yesterday, when they stopped purchase a few items inside the café, in the early afternoon.

According to a Sheriff’s Office report, Christopher Belmont and his girlfriend Jody Ballor parked Belmont’s Jeep Wrangler in front of the business, where they both exited the vehicle, leaving the keys in the ignition.

While Belmont and Ballor were inside the café, 36-year-old Timothy Robert Carson took the opportunity to steal the Jeep. Within minutes of the theft, Deputies spotted the Jeep traveling on Commercial Way of Breakwater Blvd, where they conducted a traffic stop.

Carson was taken into custody and charged with Grand Auto Theft, in addition to Violating Probation on previous charges of DUI and Carrying a Concealed Firearm. Carson is also charged with driving on a suspended license. Carson remains behind bars, held without bond.
