Murder Inside Assisted Living Facility Leads to Arrest
DADE CITY (PASCO) – According to officials with the Dade City Police Department, 64-year-old Wayne Gerard Davis, a former resident of Edwinola Assisted Living facility in Dade City has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder.
According to reports, a physical altercation ensued between Davis and fellow resident, 83-year-old Paul Atkinson on April 13th. During the altercation, Atkinson sustained critical injuries and was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center for treatment. Atkinson was later transferred to another facility, where he succumbed to his injuries on May 2nd.
A warrant was issued for Davis’ arrest, after evidence revealed that Davis was the primary aggressor in the altercation. Davis was taken into custody early this morning from Springbrook Hospital in Brooksville and transported to the Hernando County Jail, where he is currently held on a $250,000 bond.
