Nature Coast at Hernando and Week 10 Predictions
Danny Aiello Jr & Derek J. LaRiviere
Week 10 of the High School football season is upon us, and now it is the final countdown. Playoff spots have been locked in, yet a few remain up for grabs! Welcome to Pigskin Prophets where Derek J. LaRiviere and myself break down all the high school football action for Hernando, Citrus and Pasco counties. New this week, gone are the messy columns that you, the reader, didn’t like and replacing it is a table so you can easily follow who we selected! Be sure to follow the prophets on twitter, and take us on in the comments with your selections!
Game of the Week: Nature Coast (8-0) at Hernando (3-6) 7:30pm
Aiello Jr: Nature Coast, 42-10
LaRiviere: Nature Coast, 35-7
Derek’s Breakdown: Nature Coast is two wins shy of becoming only the second Hernando County team to ever go 10-0 in a regular season. The other was Hernando Christian Academy in 2008, a program that hardly played at the level the Sharks do. With DeShawn Smith and his record-breaking numbers leading the way, Nature Coast should not have a problem with the Leopards on its way to the postseason. However, let’s not forget that it was Hernando that ended Springstead’s season on a sour note last year with a 19-17 upset.
Danny’s Breakdown: While Hernando comes into this contest the winner of two straight games, Nature Coast is the class of the district. Nobody has been able to stop DeShawn Smith thus far, and the Leopards will have a huge task in just containing him alone. If Smith gets going, it could be a long night for Hernando.
Byes: Central (3-6)
OVERALL RECORDS (LAST WEEK): Aiello Jr: 75-40 (9-3), LaRiviere 84-31 (10-2)
