Week 4 of football action comes live to us tonight, and includes two Hernando County squads fighting for the inside track as 5A-7 District play kicks off. As always, I am joined by Derek J. LaRiviere who leads this season in correct picks by five games, but there is a lot of football left to be played! Welcome to Pigskin Prophets!

Game of the Week: Nature Coast (3-0) at Central (2-1) 7:30pm

Aiello Jr: Nature Coast, 35-21

LaRiviere: Nature Coast, 42-14

Derek’s Breakdown: The Bears have been impressive through three weeks behind the stout rushing attack of De’Vonta Smith. The biggest problem has been the defense. Ridgewood thrashed the Central defense for big yardage and points. Nature Coast should be able to do the same with DeShawn Smith leading the way. While his Central counterpart went for over 330 yards and four touchdowns last week against Fivay, the Sharks standout had over 280 yards and a career-high five touchdowns. It is difficult to imagine Central being able to keep up in what should be a track meet.

Danny’s Breakdown:: These schools don’t like each other, add in the fact that first place in the district and county are on the line and you have a game to watch. However, I think if Central wants to win tonight, they will have to control the clock and not become one dimensional. I think the deciding factor for the Bears will be Sebastian Rivera who at times has looked poised and confident in the pocket. With the Sharks defense stacking against De’Vonta Smith, it will be Rivera who will have to step up if Central wants to leave with the victory.
