New Twist in Stabbing Death Investigation – Victim Identified
SPRING HILL – On Saturday, RNRF reported the tragic death of a 32-year-old man who was stabbed multiple times at a residence on Hiawatha Street on Friday evening.
Officials did not release a suspect description or possible motive at the time of the incident, but they did assure that the community was not in danger.
Conflicting information developed as the incident unfolded Friday, leaving more questions than answers. According to our sources, initial reports were that a minor stabbed the victim several times in the back; however, that information changed and officials began a frantic search for a 6’ tall black male, riding a bicycle. After a few short hours, the search was called off, no arrests were made, and the victim was fighting for his life at Bayonet Point Hospital.
In yet another twist, RNRF has received unconfirmed reports that the assailant was indeed a young male, possibly 14-years of age. The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Neal Scheffer.
Officials are still not commenting on the facts of the case, but they did say that once their investigation is complete, they will be turning their findings over to the State Attorney’s Office for review.
We will bring more on this story as it develops.
