Off-Duty Fire Rescue Captain Saves Neighbor’s Home from Total Destruction
SPRING HILL – Having a fireman as a neighbor came is handy for a Spring Hill family today, after an off-duty Fire Captain spotted smoke coming from his neighbor’s garage.
According to officials, just before 1:00 p.m. today, Fire Rescue responded to 220 Glenlock Lane to reports of a structure fire. While Fire Rescue was en route, the Captain whose identity has not been revealed, searched the home for occupants, rescued three dogs, and began spraying the fire with a garden hose.
Due to his swift actions, the fire was contained to the garage and did not damage the home.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that the smoke alarms did not activate inside the home even though the house did fill with smoke.
The State Fire Marshal is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
