Officers Use Rope to Save Woman Who Threatened to Jump from Bridge

SHADY HILLS (PASCO) – A Pasco County Sheriff’s Deputy and a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper helped save a woman’s life this morning, after she threatened to jump onto the Suncoast Parkway from the Bowman Road Bridge.

Sources say the incident began around 7:30 a.m. and that the Bowman Road Bridge, and northbound lanes of the Suncoast Parkway were shut down while officers negotiated with the desperate woman.

One witness tells RNRF that the woman was hanging from a chain link fence on the south side of the bridge, directly over the northbound lanes.According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a rope was used to tie the woman in place until Fire Rescue could arrive and safely remove the woman from the bridge.

The woman was taken into protective custody and transported from the scene.

    • He was busy talking to “Dumbelievable” about helmets and dead “bikers”. I laugh every time I think about how people think God is protecting them while at the same time innocent children are being abused and killed . Often by the same “religious zealots” that do these horrible acts in “Gods” name. SHMH…:)

  • Perhaps they can locate a chapter of NAMI in the area. Sad what this world is coming to. I believe it will get worse when current president starts monkeying with health care because services to aid this type of situation will be slashed budget wise. Usually police have connections made in past they can contact – don’t know if these do or not. I pray she won’t try again . I pray someone will reach a solution to help her whatever the problem. By the way, who she is isn’t your business neither is her problem UNLESS SHE WISHES TO SHARE!!!!! Have respect for her privacy.
