Officials Estimate Over 740 Acres Scorched As Brush Fire Continues to Burn

BROOKSVILLE – Fire Fighters remain on the scene of a large brush fire, near the Cemex plant along Citrus Way.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Carroll, 741 acres have burned so far and will probably continue to burn for several more days. Carroll says today’s fire was set purposely to back burn fuel and stop the fire’s progression.

There are no reports of injury or property damage at this time.
