One Killed, One Injured in Separate Motorcycle Crashes

PASCO – One person was killed and another critically injured after separate single vehicle motorcycle crashes occurred last evening in Pasco County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, around 11:30 p.m., 28-year-old Kyle James Duhoski of Port Richey was traveling eastbound on Bougenville Ave, east of Raffia Drive, when he lost control attempting to negotiate a curve. The motorcycle departed the roadway, collided with a decorative rock, and ejected Duhoski from the motorcycle. Duhoski was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

A second accident occurred earlier in that evening on SR-54 just east of Gunn Highway. According to reports, 54-year-old John Hobock of Land O’ Lakes was traveling on SR-54, when for reasons unknown he lost control and overturned onto the roadway. Hobock was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in either crash, according to officials.

Neither driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

  • Riding a bike anywhere is dangerous but way to many people own bikes that have no business riding one. Both these stories are single vehicle/bike accidents. Years ago when I took my motorcycle class 3 people in class dropped their bikes riding on a closed course at minimal speeds. A few days later these same people who could not navigate cones in a parking lot are riding on US 19 which is insane. I understand if you own a bike its only a matter of time before you lay one down and lot of experienced riders have perished due the faults of other motorist. I don’t think the helmet law is the issue though. I believe the ease of getting your motorcycle endorsement is the issue. Unfortunately it will never change where all motorist pay attention for bikes so making sure people are ready and able to handle a bike should be the concern. A lot of bike vs car wrecks could be avoided if the riders knew what they were doing. Some of these riders look like 3 year olds thrown on a bicycle for the first time without training wheels!

  • If you gonna make people where a helmet, you might as well stop cigarettes, beer, eating fast food, and anything else thats bad for you, Its a personal choice, I wear a helmet, and dont feel good without one, but its my choice. Distracted drivers cut me off everyday, We live in a culture of disrespect and people only care about themselves and where they are going, They could care less if they kill someone to get there, and of course its not everybody!

    • I love to ride but currently can’t afford my own ( have owned in past). What’s dangerous is no helmet & people who don’t look before changing lanes, etc. Everyone has come to believe they are the only ones with rights to the road. BRING BACK RESPECT FOR EVRRYONES RIGHT TO ROADS, LOOKING BEFORE CHANGING LANES & MAKING TURNS
      ETC.
