  • When will the lights on 19 and Toucan Trail start working? They’ve been up for a long time now and that intersection is extremely dangerous!

  • Watch out for that Flammor Ford courteous van she is always in a hurry

    Saturday, 13 January 2018, 4:00 pm
  • High number of accidents are due to drivers shooting across 19, pulling in front of traffic. The elderly seem to have a problem judging distance or speed of the on coming cars. Putting up traffic lights won’t cure the problem.

    Saturday, 13 January 2018, 11:02 am
    • Traffic lights, stop signs and lowering speed limits will not help because people ignore all three! They think these things are suggestions and/or do not apply to them. When people can put down their cell phones, pay attention, and follow the rules of driving (not to mention have a little common sense and common courtesy, both of which are so rare they should be considered superpowers) only then will the number of senseless accidents decrease.

      Saturday, 13 January 2018, 3:50 pm
  • a light wont prevent all crashes but sure would reduce the risk.

    Saturday, 13 January 2018, 2:07 am
  • Traffic lights most likely wont help. I have been in 2 accidents within the last 2 years. BOTH ME SITTING AT A RED LIGHT AND BEING SLAMMED INTO FROM THE BACK. CELLPHONES WERE THE ISSUE IN BOTH CASES. GET OFF THE PHONES SAVE LIVES. INCIDENT#1 PIZZA DELIVERY GUY WAS REACHING FOR HIS PHONE BECAUSE HE WAS LATE ON DELIVERY. INCIDENT #2 WAS BUSY POSTING A STATUS ON FACEBOOK AND DIDNT SEE ME OR THE RED LIGHT. PRAYERS TO ALL INVOLVED!! I JUST DONT THINK LIGHTS ARE GOING TO HELP STOP ACCIDENTS.

    • i cant wait until self-driving cars become mandatory, it will drastically reduce accidents, DUI’s, etc.

      Saturday, 13 January 2018, 4:55 am
  • I tried to get a traffic light We even got 350 to sign for a traffic light and the State said the need 3 people to die first, will now they have there 3, how many more do we need before we get a traffic light?

    Friday, 12 January 2018, 9:31 pm
    • Self-driving cars will limit accidents, and freedom. You can’t get into an accident if you can’t go places. Self-driving cars are incompatible with human drivers on the same roads.

      Saturday, 13 January 2018, 1:46 pm
    • Or you know oldies like these shouldn’t drive 🤷🏼‍♂️

          Saturday, 13 January 2018, 9:13 pm
  • Sending prayers to all involved

    Friday, 12 January 2018, 8:43 pm
  • Do what I do. At a dangerous intersection I often turn right and then make a u turn . It is a little out of the way but I try to avoid dangerous situations . I have been driving for 33 years with NO accidents .

    Friday, 12 January 2018, 8:29 pm
    • That is great advice Johnny!

      Friday, 12 January 2018, 8:41 pm
    • I do the same thing..they need to do away with all the median turn arounds. And they definetly need to put lights on the dangerous ones like sealawn and 19… Hexam and 19 that’s just a couple. But most of all people just need to slow down and be more curtious.

      Friday, 12 January 2018, 9:52 pm
    • That is what I always taught my kids when they were learning to drive. Some intersections are just TOO dangerous to cross or even turn left at. I taught them to ALWAYS look for and take the path of least resistance. If you have to turn right and go down to the next u-turn to avoid getting hit…then DO IT. They are all in their 30’s now. I have to laugh because now they tell me that they hear my voice in their heads when they are driving….lmbo. 😀

      Friday, 12 January 2018, 10:23 pm
    • That is good advice in some instances Johnny. Ruby should keep her rudeness to herself.

      Friday, 12 January 2018, 11:58 pm
    • This is what we do when leaving The Heather and planning to drive North to Homosassa or Crystal River etc.

      Saturday, 13 January 2018, 7:51 am
  • A traffic light is NOT what is needed – people need to get their heads out of their a**es and pay attention to the road and what they’re doing. There are traffic lights all over the dang county and there are still accidents all over the place, at dang near EVERY intersection.

    Friday, 12 January 2018, 7:59 pm
  • I drove past it at around 5:20, traffic was slowed down but moving northbound at that time. people were changing lanes, speeding up and cutting people off just to get a little ahead. happy no other accidents happened. prayers for the family of the person that died in this accident. people need to be careful and aware

    Friday, 12 January 2018, 7:26 pm
  • I’m afraid the gold/copper suv looks like one a local realtor from I think Glen Lakes drives. Sure hope not. Tough place to pull out of at night to go north.

    Friday, 12 January 2018, 7:14 pm
    • It’s not her thank God

      Friday, 12 January 2018, 7:48 pm
  • I was in traffic when this happen, I stopped to help the people involved. No matter what happen or who is to blame, accidents happen. We all need to take our time, slow down, and pay more attention, it is not worth what these familes are going through. This was a very horrible accident, my heart goes out to everyone involved. I will be praying for everyone. 😢😢😢😢

    Friday, 12 January 2018, 7:01 pm
  • Put the goddamn phones down people.

    Friday, 12 January 2018, 6:21 pm
  • Hernando County has no control over a traffic light in this location. Call FLDOT who has refused year after year, fatality after fatality to place one here.

    Friday, 12 January 2018, 6:04 pm
  • Omg, traffic light or not will not help as long as people are ignorant to stop signs or the law of the ride, I feel horrible this happened but people always think they own the road and do not pay attention to what they are doing, They put the blame on everyone but themselves, but like they say, ignorance is bliss, but can get them injured or killed.

    Friday, 12 January 2018, 5:41 pm
  • You don’t need a traffic light, you just need to know when to pull out! You pull out when it’s clear!

    Friday, 12 January 2018, 5:05 pm
    • Hey Ruby now there’s some great advice…lmao! Do us a favor and just STFU

      Saturday, 13 January 2018, 12:02 am
      • It sounds simple but its true…your just too dumb to see the point.

        Saturday, 13 January 2018, 11:38 am
  • They need a traffic light at Hexam and 19 as well…..with snowbirds here it is only going to get worse!! Very sad😢😢

    Friday, 12 January 2018, 4:55 pm
    • I know the answer we can put a light at EVERY INTERSECTION county wide and we will all be soooo safe, *hit happens, must have been distracted by all those prayers flying by

      Friday, 12 January 2018, 5:52 pm
      • Could not have put it better myself!
When will people take responsibility, accidents happen, and are more prone to when we’re not paying attention!

        Friday, 12 January 2018, 9:41 pm
  • The county most definitely needs to put a traffic light in this location. I go to the heather often (due to a friend living there) and traffic is always crazy. Alot because of the increased speed limit in this area. Hope everyone recovers feom this wreck, and prayers for the life that was lost.

    Friday, 12 January 2018, 4:54 pm
    • Then Flammor Ford courteous van can run it. Since she is in a hurry and has a job to do.

      Friday, 12 January 2018, 5:23 pm
  • Maybe all of the people living in the Heather should contact the board members and see what we ,and they can do to try and get a turning light there. Between the cars coming up and down 19 doing 70 or better. They are on your bumper if your doing the speed limit. And if your not turning into the Heather fast enough for them they are coming around your right side and shoot out right in front of you. You can’t fix stupid but there are steps you can take to alleviate it. Turning lights and one or two traffic lights. When they cross over 50 going south it becomes a speedway

    Friday, 12 January 2018, 4:14 pm
    • The intersection needs to be no left turns from either side. People pull across the intersection all the time in front of people turning off 19. I drive from here to Dunedin and back every day. In one 3 mile stretch there are 4 lights and it is horrible. It can take 10 minutes to drive a mile because the lights back everyone up. People get in a hurry to get through the light and rear end someone every day. Having more traffic lights rather than smarter traffic patterns causes drivers to be stressed and then even more dangerous.

      Friday, 12 January 2018, 8:48 pm
  • Prayers for all involved and prayers for the family who lost a loved one.

    Friday, 12 January 2018, 4:13 pm
  • Saw the Flammor Ford courteous van trying to get through the traffic beeping her horn trying to get by.

Called Flammor Ford to report her. Sparky said she has a job to do.

    That’s why accidents happen.

352-686-8255 is Flammor Ford. Ask for Sparky to explain why she is in a hurry.

    Friday, 12 January 2018, 4:11 pm

    Friday, 12 January 2018, 2:59 pm
    • Amen!!!

      Friday, 12 January 2018, 4:12 pm
    • The Heather needs a safer traffic pattern. No left turns out from either side of 19. Too many elderly drivers with slow reaction time coupled with teenagers just learning to drive speeding home from school. Gee, funny how the accidents have increased since the high school was built…

      Friday, 12 January 2018, 8:52 pm
  • WHO DIED
