Organization Pairs Veterans with K-9 to Treat PTSD and TBI
BROOKSVILLE – Last Saturday, dozens gathered for the grand opening of K-9 Partners for Patriots. An organization that specializes in the training of service dogs for veterans who suffer from PTSD or Traumatic Brain Injury.
The organization’s founder, Mary Peter, says the program helps veterans heal through building a bond of trust, communication, and companionship, while helping to train a service dog. And the best part of the program is that it’s free of charge and the veteran gets to keep the dog.
Several guest speakers, including Hernando County Judge Kurt Hitzemann, State Representative Blaise Ingoglia, and U.S. Congressman Richard Nugent stopped by to honor Mary and her volunteers, for their kindness, compassion and for giving veterans a second chance at life.
To see if you qualify for the program or if you would like to make a donation, check out their website at www.k9partnersforpatriots.com or call 352-397-5306. They are located in Brooksville at 16230 Aviation Loop Drive, near the Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport.
