Pastor Charged with Sexual Battery on a Minor, Says she was “Demon Possessed”
NEW PORT RICHEY (PASCO) – Pasco County Officials say a Pastor is charged with sexual battery on a minor, after convincing the victim’s parents that he needed to spend time alone with her to treat “demon possession.”
According to officials, between April and October of 2017, the pastor for Miracle Christian Church, 52-year-old Gerardo “Jerry” Martinez, allegedly had sexual contact on multiple occasions with a 17-year-old parishioner.
Officials say the victim’s parents brought their daughter to see Pastor Martinez who advised that she suffered from multiple personalities and was possessed by demons. In an effort to help the victim, he told her parents that she would need to stay after regular church services so that they could pray together.
Throughout the year, Martinez and the victim had sexual contact, but officials say vaginal intercourse did not take place.
On several occasions, witnesses observed Martinez alone with the victim and standing very close to her. When asked about the suspicious behavior, Martinez would state that the victim was demon possessed and dismissed allegations of inappropriate behavior.
Officials say Martinez spent time alone with the victim at her home in Tarpon Springs, at the church and in a Publix parking lot.
Martinez denies the allegations and refused cooperate with investigators.
Martinez is charged with at least two-counts of Sexual Battery.
