Pedestrian Suffers Traumatic Injuries After Being Struck by Car

WEEKI WACHEE – A pedestrian suffered traumatic injuries this evening after he was struck by a car while crossing Cortez Blvd at Deltona Blvd.

One witness tells RNRF that the victim appeared to be highly intoxicated when he stumbled in front of a vehicle in the eastbound lanes, however, that information has not been confirmed by officials.

The male victim was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital for treatment but his condition is unknown at this time.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.

  • I have seen poorly dressed and poorly groomed people crossing there and near there who continue into the woods on both sides of the library. Are they safe in there? (Apparently not, if this poor guy is one of them.) Are they living in there? Are we and our children safe, for example at the library? I love the Blackbird Avenue library, but I do worry about these unkempt people wandering through the parking lot and across the grounds to get into the woods.
