Possible Shooting Injures One, Search for Suspect(s) Underway, Officials Say Investigation “Fluid”

UPDATE: 7/18/2017, 10:58 A.M. - The Sheriff’s Office has released a statement confirming yesterday’s shooting incident in Spring Hill.

According to officials, at approximately 7:20 p.m., a representative from Oak Hill Hospital notified the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office that a male juvenile arrived in the emergency department suffering from a gunshot wound.

Deputies and detectives were immediately dispatched to the hospital.

Physicians treating the male juvenile advised detectives that the gunshot wound was not life-threatening.

According to the victim, the incident took place “somewhere in Spring Hill.” Detectives have yet to verify the actual location where the shooting took place.

SPRING HILL – There aren’t many details at this time but there are unconfirmed reports that at least one person has been shot and is being treated at Oak Hill Hospital with a possible gunshot wound to the arm.

RNRF received information that deputies were searching for a possible victim or suspect in the area of Bayridge Court and that a second search is underway in a separate location.

Sources tell RNRF that witnesses observed a man walking in the area of Natoma Street and Bayridge Court covered in blood. It is not known if that person has been located.

Officials have not commented on the incident and will only say the investigation is “fluid.”
