President Trump Approves Federal Major Disaster Aid for Hernando County

HERNANDO – Thousands of residents remain without power across the County and property damage is still being assessed by homeowners and officials. Over the last few days, dozens of residents have voiced concerns over Hernando County not being listed on FEMA’s Disaster Assistance list, but that all changed today, after President Donald Trump amended the Major Disaster Declaration to include Hernando County. President Trump’s decision triggers the release of Federal funds to help individuals and communities recover from Hurricane Irma.

Victims can apply online at www.disasterassistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362. Those with disabilities or hearing loss can use TTY by calling 1-800-462-7585.

Hernando County Emergency Management Officials continue to monitor the situation and ask residents to call 352-754-4083 or go to www.hernandocounty.us/em/road-closures to report road obstructions and receive a list of closed roads.

The Hernando County Government Center, located at 20 N. Main Street in Brooksville will be open starting this Thursday, September 14th.

RNRF will continue to bring the latest storm related updates as they develop.

  • What about Pasco County??? We still dont have power over here, have lost an entire fridge full of food, and we cant even get ahold of county officials because our public library in New Port Richey is still closed!! I called multiple offices including Gov. Rick Scott’s Office, FEMA, American Red Cross, FL Emergency Management Center yesterday and the day before about how to get Pasco on this list, and the most information I’ve been given is for Food Banks in the area!! One representative I spoke with, after telling him I would be homeless within a few weeks given the fact we already live paycheck to paycheck and me and my husband both work from home, told me there are shelters in the area to help with that! We STILL dont have power here OR cable service and we live right behind the hospital!!! This is obsurd!
