Rainstorm to Blame for Failed “Dukes of Hazzard Stunt” No Injuries Reported
BROOKSVILLE – Trying to take cover from a rainstorm nearly cost a local business owner his life earlier today, after a car traveling on I-75 veered off the roadway and collided with the truck he was sitting in.
According to a statement provided by Eddie’s Sod & Nursery, a crew was working along the northbound lanes of I-75 when it began to rain. Owner, Eddie Rodriguez, sought shelter from the storm by getting into the cab of his pickup truck, which was parked approximately 20 feet from the roadway. Moments later, the driver of a Cadillac careened off the roadway and drove up a trailer attached to Eddie’s truck. Before striking the cab of the truck, the driver turned the wheel and drove off the side of the trailer.
Sources say there were no injuries associated with the accident.
Wet roads were a factor in the cause of the crash, according to witnesses.
