RNRF Captures Video of DUI Suspect Attempting to Flee the Scene of a Crash
SPRING HILL – A Hudson woman is behind bars today, after she crashed her car into a concrete drainage cover and tried to drive away.
RNRF was in the area of Northcliffe Blvd and Commodore Ave late last night, when the driver of a silver Nissan slammed into a concrete slab and continued driving eastbound on Northcliffe Blvd. The vehicle became disabled at the intersection of Deltona Blvd, due to heavy wheel and body damage.
RNRF captured video of the woman as she continued her attempts to flee, but the vehicle would only budge a few inches.
Several bystanders watched as the woman tried to flee, and one man even positioned his car so that the woman could not pull away.
She made one last ditch effort to drive off when she noticed K-9 Deputy Jason Jernigan rolling up to the scene.
Jernigan yelled at the woman to stop and turn off the car before escorting her from the vehicle.
The driver, 31-year-old Marta Bonilla appeared to be heavily intoxicated as deputies tried talking to her about what happened. Deputy Aaron Cochrane attempted to conduct a series of sobriety exercises with Bonilla, but she refused and was taken into custody.
Bonilla is charged with DUI, DUI with Property Damage and Leaving the Scene of a Crash. She remains behind bars on a $2,500 bond.
