Roads and Parks Close Due to Storm Surge, High Tide from Hurricane Michael

UPDATE: 4:04 p.m. – The following parks are now closed.

HERNANDO – Emergency management officials have closed several roads and parks due to flooding from Hurricane Michael.

Officials say Bayport Park, Pine Island Drive, Bayou Drive at Pine Island Road, and Osowaw Blvd at Shine Lane are all closed due to flooding.

Authorities urge residents to closely monitor the National Weather Service at https://www.weather.gov/tbw/ or the National Hurricane Center at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/. for storm updates.

There are unconfirmed reports that at least 2 boats broken free from their moorings in the area of Jenkins Creek.
RNRF will continue to monitor breaking storm related developments throughout the evening.
