  • People speed and tailgate in this area… It’s a recipe for disaster I see it everyday

  • RNRF is the only legitimate news source in Hernando County. The other news sources covering our county are nothing more than an appendage of the Liberal Media. If you don’t like the facts as reported by Tom, try locating a better news source (Hint: You won’t find one.) If it wasn’t for RNRF I would not know half of what is happening in our county.

And please, before you tell me to go back to NJ let me tell you why I’m living in Hernando County. I chose this county to relocate my elderly (73 years of age tat that time, 87 years of age now) because of the quality of life they could have in this beautiful county. The hard northern winters were taking a toll on their bodies. Since relocating them here in Hernando County their lives have been much more satisfying. They live with my wife and I, and we ask nothing of anyone else nor government to see them through the final years of their lives.

  • That’s a really bad section of road. They pull out in front of traffic, get in the center lane and dart over into the travel lane, again in front of moving traffic. No wonder crashes happen. It’s getting a dangerous as Mariner just north of Northcliff. People pulling in front of cars when they exit Publix or McDonalds or entering them. I call that area “the twilight zone” just making it through there is a risk.

  • As for anybody else who has ANYTHING negative to say here on RNRF….DON’T. If you don’t like his stories or his reporting, then ‘quietly’ remove YOURSELF from this group and page as you are not wanted here. He is the ONLY reporter in this county who works tirelessly to bring us constant daily updates as to what’s happening here in Hernando and Pasco, and Citrus Counties. I know with the drugs, crime and auto accidents that fill his page each week, that he’s a very busy man. He does NOT deserve the verbal smack down he’s been receiving the past 2 days on FB. When these accidents are happening by the mutiples every day, it’s his reporting of them makes us aware of the locations so that we may avoid a traffic jam or worse…another accident.

It’s his reports of drug raids by our sheriff’s dept. that tells us that the cops are doing their jobs to ‘clean up’ our neighborhoods.

It’s his reports that notify us of upcoming county commission board meetings so that we may be involved in our local government and in the issues at hand.

It’s his reports that uncover unethical practices/cover-ups taking place in charitable organizations and the leadership that supports it.

It’s his reports that expose and reveal ongoing issues plaguing the parents and the children in our public school system.

It’s HIS REPORTS that keep us informed of all of this and more. That’s ALL he’s been trying to do, and he has been crucified in the court of public opinion ON HIS OWN website and FB page. Enough is ENOUGH. It must stop right here, RIGHT NOW. Those of you who are attacking him have obviously never been raised with any manners or respect for anybody. Have you ever heard the phrase that if you CAN’T say anything nice to or about someone…then it’s best to say NOTHING AT ALL?? You need to quietly excuse/remove yourself from the group, even block them if need be, and move on. Act your age…not your shoe size.

And don’t get even go there with ‘Freedom of Speech’ to state your opinion and ‘how you feel’. That’s nothing more than a crock of shinola and you know it. YES, we are guaranteed freedom of speech, but that DOES NOT give you the right to run rough shod over ANYONE at ANYTIME…just because you can. There’s a RIGHT way and a WRONG way to state how you feel. And if you exercise a calm, respectable approach in doing so….people are more prone to listen. But NOT if you verbally rip into or verbally rape someone on social media. You’re ONLY showing your lack of integrity, your immaturity, your up bringing, your lack of class, and your mental issues. It truly DOES make you look like a certifiable A$$. You KNOW who you are, I’m not printing nor smearing your name as you did with Tom. But you need to G•E•T • A • G•R•I•P then grow the hell up. AND apologize to Tom in the meantime.

Tom I apologize this was soo long. I had to calm down after reading all the slanderous posts yesterday…before I could respond, or you would have deleted my post too. Sorry my friend. 😉

Hope you have a better week, and keep up the good work and the good reporting. Despite what the ongoing troublemakers continue to say and throw at you…you’re really doing an awesome job. Sometimes the TRUTH JUST HURTS…and they just don’t like it, or being exposed.

    • I totally agree and everybody should be thanking you for all your hard work. You are the reason we get any local news, and I really appreciate it!!!!

  • The problem recently is cold weather and distracted drivers. I live right across the street from where this accident happened and I was one of the first people on the scene. The lady in the smaller car had her dog with her (looked like a Blue Healer). She was okay but sore, her airbag probably saved hers and the dogs life. The Lady in the truck was conscious and talking but unable to move due to the position of her truck (rolled onto the Drivers side). Neither one of the ladies involved were young they were late 50’s to mid 60’s. The impact sounded like a bomb went off. HCSO and FHP are on the roads all the time (and on Spring Hill Drive a lot). I cannot speculate on what caused the accident but I can say this. Nothing is so important that you have to get there in a hurry. Take your time or leave earlier. I have been watching the entrance to the Spring Hill Library for years waiting for something to happen. People pull out into the center lane without looking all the time. Pay Attention. And to those from points other than Spring Hill… Stop Signs are not suggestions.

  • GoBack2NJ….what’s taking you soo long? Need an escort out of town? We can all pitch in for a one way tix back to NJ…

    Saturday, 13 January 2018, 10:34 pm
  • IF they would HCSO would make more of a presence on these roads and write tickets, ENFORCE THE SPEED LIMITS FOR CITIZENS AND THEMSELVES this would certainly help some, Google statics for WORSTCOUNTY FOR ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES, I DID, GOOD OLD HERNANDO COUNTY. with Florida ranking at the top of list for worst. That doesn’t even take in pedestrians and motorcycles, Sad but true, old stats too. Hope everyone recovers, but this is beyond belief

    Saturday, 13 January 2018, 9:24 pm
    • Where did you get this erroneous info you are making up. I googled worst county for accidents or fatalities in Florida and Hernando wasn’t even in the top 20… Spring hill does rank as #14 in the state for safest cities. Top 5 most dangerous counties, Levy, Hardee, Jackson, Suwannee, and Hamilton. And this is 2014 state released reports (old stats as well). Recheck your google.

      • Xxxrtc, Good afternoon to you. Naw I know what I read , Also know my insurance company which is one of the best, rates Florida as the worst in the U.S., therefore rates are highest, out ranking New York, No way do I believe crashes are related to cold weather. But ok if u do. If you in describing these ladies say they were not young, 50 is the new 40, so u must be real young.and if and when you hit 50, you will not think it’s old. Travel all the roads here ( ugh) and never see a lot of depities, except on Elgin between deltona and mariner, where speed limit of 35 is strictly enforced. Go figure. So I politely disagree. As far as safe, crime wise, I am where I live, relativrly. Spring Hill Drive who knows.? If you were a regular follower of RNRF! you would see all the unecessary crashes are pretty much a daily basis. So enjoy your Sunday afternoon Be safe out there everyone.

        • LOL you are ridiculous, Jana. Its a fact backed by statistics that Hernando county is no where near the top for accidents, lol. So you either misread or did not comprehend what you were reading.

          Sunday, 14 January 2018, 3:46 pm
          • DR? Mexico maybe you have a link to provide since you are so sure I am wrong. Maybe I am, but I for sure comprehend WHAT I read, as well I am pretty darned sure you are not a doctor, and IF you are and didn’t just stay at a Holiday Inn once I WOULD STAY CLEAR OF YOU? Really no reason to be a jackass. And be so judgemental and rude.

            Sunday, 14 January 2018, 6:01 pm
            • Follow your own advice. Provide a link.

              Sunday, 14 January 2018, 11:28 pm
        • Jana,

I am a regular Follower. And I know that from end of October to Mid March Accidents in Spring Hill increase 10 Fold. In fact I talked with Tom about this the other day at the Accident Scene. Also I am not 50 you are correct. I am 49 will be 50 in September thanks. I’m also a Retired Veteran and I pay close attention to what goes on in my Home Town. By you comparing New York to Florida I will assume you are from elsewhere and not Native. And yes, Cold weather does affect drivers. Especially in Florida. And if you lived where I do you would see the HCSO and FHP about once or twice an hour going down Spring Hill Dr. But alas, you do not. I call it Spring Hill International Raceway for a reason.

If you want to look at current or archived stats on type of accident and more I recommend going to the FIREs portal websight you can find it here.

          • Thank you Xxxetc for the link, also thank you for your service, I am a wife of a veteran, and have a long line of family that served and some have died due to serving this great country. Have 3 nephews now serving in various parts of the country So now that I have that said, no I am not a native Floridian, but certainly Not from New York. I have traveled all over the US. And find Floridian ‘s to be some of the nicest people, South Carolina topping the list. ( of course that might be because of being so close to the military bases,) Nice people and not so nice everywhere, Been here long enough to know how bad the accidents have gotten over the last years. I will check out your link, but I did read what I posted , but then who believes everything they read on the internet,Doesn’t matter, too many people dying and getting injured regardless of who’s stats we go by. . Be well, be safe and let’s hope that SOMETHING is done to stop all these accidents

            Monday, 15 January 2018, 4:51 pm
    • The last thing this town needs is more cops giving out tickets. The problem is old drivers who are out their for a leisurely drive and prevent people from getting where they need to be.
These are the same idiots who argued against having to move out of the left lane on the highway.

Slow old drivers cause more accidents than anyone else.

      Monday, 15 January 2018, 12:18 am
  • That’s because the idiots around here just can’t seem To drive the speed limit on Springhill Drive it’s unbelievable what you see out there every day

    Saturday, 13 January 2018, 8:21 pm
    • It’s not necessarily about driving the speed limit, rather the speed limit on SHD, from Commercial to Anderson Snow is too high.

      Sunday, 14 January 2018, 8:47 am
      • If 45 is too high of a speed limit on Spring Hill Drive then those who think that should not be driving. Its the people running stop signs, waiting till you get closer and then pulling out in front of cars, not signaling just swerving in and out of traffic and the biggest is just not looking causing the accidents

        Sunday, 14 January 2018, 5:29 pm
  • What the heck is going on in Spring Hill? So many accidents recently, and so many roll overs. I think the schools need to bring back driver’s ed.!

    Saturday, 13 January 2018, 8:20 pm
  • You Tell um Papa Bear. Tom does a great job seeing to it that we know whats going on.TY!

    Saturday, 13 January 2018, 8:15 pm
  • RNRF – first with pictures and last with facts……….

    Saturday, 13 January 2018, 5:38 pm
    • Well, you COULD just go back to Spectrum News and TBO to get NO pictures, NO facts or for that matter, not even a mention. If one relied on those two “news” sources, one would think that nothing ever happens in our area.

      Saturday, 13 January 2018, 6:41 pm
      • Papa bear= well said!!!

        Saturday, 13 January 2018, 7:47 pm
    • don’t follow RNRF if you don’t like the job Tom is doing.

      Saturday, 13 January 2018, 7:50 pm
    • Lmao why don’t you go back to NJ then :’D
