Search for Battery Suspect, Believed Armed with Handgun, Ends in Arrest
UPDATE: 5:10 p.m. – According to jail records, Charles Weatherly is charged with Domestic Battery and Crimes Against a Person, Exposure to Harm. Weatherly remains behind bars, held without bond.
SPRING HILL – Tense moments for Sheriff’s Deputies this morning, after a domestic battery suspect fled on foot and was believed to be armed with a handgun.
An official report has not been released but according to our sources, Deputies responded to an address on Horseshoe Lane around 9:45 a.m. after a woman reported being battered by her boyfriend, 39-year-old Charles Weatherly. There are unconfirmed reports that Weatherly threatened the victim with a handgun before leaving the residence.
Deputies immediately began searching the surrounding streets and soon located the Weatherly walking westbound on Toucan Trail, near Commercial Way. Weatherly was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Hernando County Jail. RNRF cannot confirm if Weatherly was armed at the time of his arrest.
Weatherly’s exact charges have not been released at this time.
