Search Underway for Man who Fled Child Custody Hearing, Will Face Fleeing to Elude Charge
UPDATE: 6:54 P.M. – Breighner’s uncle, Robert Benjamin, contacted RNRF and explained that his nephew did not run from today’s hearing but that when he arrived in the parking lot of the courthouse, several deputies charged after him, which led to him fleeing the area. The details of the child custody case aren’t clear but Benjamin says his nephew is the one who filed today’s emergency motion for child custody, due to his child’s mother having an alleged substance abuse problem. Benjamin goes on to say that his nephew did not injure the deputy during the pursuit.
UPDATE: 4:52 P.M. – Travis Wade Breighner is now in custody.
PASCO – Authorities are searching for 20-year-old Travis Wade Breighner who ran from a court hearing at the Pasco County Courthouse earlier this morning. Witnesses say Breighner injured a Bailiff during the chase but officials say there were no injuries reported.
Breighner was attending a child custody hearing when he suddenly fled the courtroom. Breighner will face a fleeing to elude charge once he is captured.
It is not known at this time if the child or children are in the care of custody of Breighner or the other parent.
Breighner is described as a white male, 5’07”, 145 lbs., blonde hair, and blue eyes. His last know address is 9722 Clyde Street in Hudson.
