Separate Death Investigations Underway, Bomb Squad Called to Neutralize Device

HERNANDO – There were two incidents over the long holiday weekend that drew a lot of attention form concerned citizens around the County.

RNRF received several inquiries about heavy police activity in the area of California Street and Wiscon Road on Sunday, where according to officials, a 27-year-old female was located deceased inside a pickup truck,

Sheriff’s Deputies and the Florida Highway Patrol responded to 7157 Dentala Street, where they located the deceased.

Officials say the pickup truck was involved in a hit and run accident earlier in the day, which is why the Florida Highway Patrol is involved in the investigation.

There are unconfirmed reports that a small child was found inside the vehicle and that the victim may have had a heart condition.

The second incident took place at 8035 Canterbury Street in Spring hill on Monday, where officials say a suicide took place at the residence. During the investigation, deputies discovered a suspicious device, which prompted a response from the State Fire Marshal and a bomb squad. The device was removed without incident and neutralized, according to officials.

There are no further details available on either case, as the investigations are ongoing.
