Several Farm Animals Perish in Barn Fire, Man Injured Attempting to Save Them
BROOKSVILLE – A man is in stable condition at a Tampa Burn Center, after he attempted to rescue livestock from a burning barn earlier this afternoon.
According to Fire Officials, Fire Rescue responded to 33031 Ranch Road around 3:00 p.m., where they discovered fully engulfed barn.
The occupants of an adjacent mobile home escaped but one of the residents suffered substantial injuries while attempting to save his animals. He was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital in Tampa for treatment, where officials say he is in stable but guarded condition.
Sadly, several farm animals perished in the fire.
Officials say a space heater used to heat the barn is the most likely cause of the fire.
The mobile home suffered minimal exterior damage.
There are no other injuries reported to civilians or firefighters.
