Sex Offender Off the Streets – Neighbors Say Good Riddance
SPRING HILL – A convicted sexual offender is off the streets and neighbors say good riddance to a man they say has terrorized the neighborhood for months.
Around 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, Detectives with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office raided the home of 54-year-old Jeffrey Hernandez-Colon, located at 6200 Skyline Court. Officials have not released the details of the investigation at this time; however, one neighbor revealed a possible kidnapping incident that took place earlier this week.
The neighbor, who wished not to be identified, tells RNRF that a woman burst through her front door, screaming for help, claiming that she had just escaped Colon’s residence, where she had been held captive for at least 24 hours.
The neighbor says Colon grabbed the victim’s bags as she entered her residence, but she was able to break free and lock the door before Colon could make entry. Officials have not verified the kidnapping allegations and it is not known if Colon will face related charges.
Several neighbors say Colon is known to be extremely violent and often fires random shots from a handgun in the street.
At this time, the only charge listed on the Hernando County Jail Website is a sex offender violation. He is currently behind bars – held on a $20,000 bond.
