Sexual Predator to Spend 30-Years Behind Bars
HERNANDO – A Brooksville man will spend the next 30-years behind bars, after accepting a plea deal for sexually assaulting two young children for over three years.
Between 2010 and 2013, 59-year-old Felix Montanez sexually battered two children, who were reportedly under the age of 9 at the time of the incidents. Authorities were able to charge Montanez, after one of the children came forward and told their parents.
Montanez was arrested in October of 2013 and housed at the Hernando County Jail throughout the duration of his trial.
Officials say Detective Brent Stentz worked tirelessly with the State Attorney’s Office, Department of Children and Families, and the Child Protection team, in bringing Montanez to justice.
Montanez was arrested in 1995 for Indecent Assault on a Child under 16. He was placed on 10-years probation, but violated the terms and conditions in 1999. In 2012 Montanez violated the terms again and was placed on an additional 5-year sentence of Community Control. Unfortunately, authorities were unaware that Montanez was sexually battering two young children that same year.
If Montanez survives the next thirty years, he will spend the rest of his life on probation.
