Sharks run over Hudson

DeShawn Smith took his second carry 82-yards to the house, and just like the defenders, Nature Coast put Hudson in the rearview mirror, dismissing them 46-21.

Despite committing 36 penalties, the Sharks (2-0) took care of business, holding the Cobras to three touchdowns, one less than Smith would score by himself.

Along with his four scores Smith gained 210 yards, all on only 14 carries, giving him an average of 15 yards per carry.

Hudson would score late to close the gap, but the game was never in doubt once Nature Coast opened a 27-0 lead.

Hornets down Rattlers to get in win column

Weeki Wachee overcame themselves and missed opportunities to down the Belleview Rattlers Friday at the Hornets’ Nest, 22-10.

Alec Cromie found Jacob Tinch for a touchdown strike to put the host Hornets (1-1) ahead.

After Luis Guardiola nailed a 25-yard field goal, Weeki Wachee found themselves up 10-0 by the end of 12 minutes of play.

Shawn O’Gorman responded to the Rattlers (0-2) touchdown by taking the ensuing kickoff 97-yards to the endzone for another Weeki Wachee score.

Trailing 16-7 in the third quarter, Shakir Fontenot would bring Belleview within six points when he connected on a 26-yard field goal, but the Rattlers would get no closer.

O’Gorman would seal the game away, as he punched it in from 3-yards out, sending the home crowd home happy on Military Appreciation Night.
