Sheriff Says Deputy Involved Shooting Possible “Suicide by Cop” Attempt

SPRING HILL – The Deputy invovled shooting that took place this afternoon in a quiet Spring Hill neighborhood was most likely an attempted “suicide by cop,” says Sheriff Al Nienhuis.

According to Nienhuis, deputies resounded to a “dollar” type store on Spring Hill Drive, after receiving reports that a man was “waving a gun around.”

During a search, a deputy located the suspect in the area of Antelope Street and Marble Ave. Nienhuis says the suspect displayed what appeared to be a firearm, forcing the deputy to shoot the suspect at least one time in the abdomen.

Fire rescue responded and transported the suspect to a trauma center for treatment, where his condition remains unknown.

  • Anon, good point very good point, matter of fact anyone these days stupid enough to take anything resembling realistically looking like any type of firearm out and begin to act erratically is asking to be shot if this individual did have any kind of pistol in his possession and was doing this he deserved 4 pops! Also anyway I will have to admit I’ve never heard any Police Department anywhere on Earth refer to a site of a crime or a shooting as a dollar type store that is kind of funny

    • I’m sorry but when someone is acting erratically and is waving something in his hand that could either be a gun or a BB gun or even an air rifle, would you take the time to ask them if you can figure out if it is a real gun or not? Until you put on a vest and gun belt every day and face situations like this, you have no reason to criticize their training or how the deputy responded.

    • Does anyone watch TV the cops are allowed to shoot a 12 yr old boy with a B.B. gun and they killed him without concern in a blink of the eye. And the 911 caller told the police that it could be a toy gun. He was black kid and that’s all mattered
