Sheriff’s Detective Taken Into Custody After 11-Hour Standoff, Faces Felony Charges
BROOKSVILLE – The standoff between Sheriff’s Deputies and a man barricaded inside a home on Royal Drive has come to an end. And unfortunately the suspect is one of their own.
According to HCSO Spokesperson Michael Terry, Detective William Cole Brinson, 43, barricaded himself inside his home on Royal Drive, just before 8:00 p.m. last night, and was taken into custody this morning at 6:30 a.m. without incident.
Brinson, a 14-year veteran of HCSO is charged with two-counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and three-counts of Domestic Battery.
There are unconfirmed reports that his wife and children were inside the home during the incident.
The investigation continues, say officials.
