Springstead, Hernando Dropped in District Play
By Danny Aiello Jr
Sunlake rushed for 295 yards on 30 carries and beat Springstead easily, 38-20. Despite the Eagles (1-4,0-2 6A-6) best efforts from quarterback Jordan Wright and company, the 17-0 hole was just too much to overcome.
The Seahawks (6-0, 2-0 6A-6) got on the board first when Justin Hall found Cris Galdos for a 46-yard touchdown strike.
The Eagles would fall behind 17-0 at the half due to shaky offensive line play, which took away any time Wright and halfback Randy Morgan had to attempt to run the option.
However, in the second half, the Eagles would score on their first three possessions as Dominque Walker scored from 17-yards out, followed by a John Chase 47-yard touchdown reception from Wright.
24-14 would be as close as the Eagles got, however, as KJ Pratt and Justin Metzger would continue to have their way with the Springstead defense, adding two touchdowns and running out the clock.

Hernando only allowed 21 points, but for the fifth straight week, the Leopards failed to score more than two touchdowns en route to a 21-7 loss to Crystal River.
After scoring 40 points the first week of the season, the Leopards (1-5, 1-2 5A-7) have scored just 39 points in the five contests since.
The Pirates (4-2, 2-1 5A-7) scored three rushing touchdowns in the contest, the first by Logan Wardlow on a quarterback sneak.
Down 14-7 in the closing seconds of the half, the Hernando defense would shine again, getting a stop keeping the game at only a seven-point deficit, giving the anemic offense a chance.
The Leopards would get no closer, however, as a Tyrek Scriven would add a rushing touchdown giving the Pirates their final margin of victory.
Up Next: Homecoming for the Leopards as they host Ocala-Forest.
