Entering week three, it is time to find out who are pretenders and who are contenders this football season. Our spotlight this week focuses on one of the best rivalries in the county as Springstead (1-1) travels to Nature Coast (2-0). As always, I am joined by Derek J. LaRiviere as we welcome you to Pigskin Prophets!

Game of the Week: Springstead (1-1) at Nature Coast (2-0)

Aiello Jr: Nature Coast, 31-14

LaRiviere: Nature Coast, 31-7

Derek’s Breakdown: Springstead was finally able to put up points offensively, but the total came against a struggling Hernando defense. Meanwhile, Nature Coast looks like the best all-around team in the county this season. Offensively, it will be difficult to stop DeShawn Smith since no one else has been able to do it, and on the other side of the ball the Sharks have shown the ability to shut down some of the more solid offensive attacks over the years.

Danny’s Breakdown: Springstead evened their record at 1-1 last week and would love nothing more than to get over the hump while handing their most hated rival their first loss. That is a great narrative, but the real question is can Jordan Wright continue to move this offense down the field. Wright has shown flashes of brilliance under center, but the Springstead defense will need to answer the bell in this came if they want a win.
