Standoff Ends After Nearly 7-Hours – Suspect Transported to Hospital
UPDATE: 2/11/2016, 5:41 p.m. – After a nearly 7-hour standoff, the suspect who barricaded himself inside his home on Begonia Street has finally surrendered.
Although the suspect was reportedly armed with a handgun, he finally walked out of the home and was taken into custody without incident.
There are unconfirmed reports that the suspect is a former Pasco County Sheriff’s Deputy and that he may have a felony conviction; however, officials are not commenting on those details.
The suspect was transported to Oakhill Hospital for evaluation.

SPRING HILL – RNRF is on the scene of a standoff between Sheriff’s Deputies and a male subject who has barricaded himself inside a home on Begonia Street.
The incident that began over two hours ago has drawn dozens of law enforcement officers to the scene, including the Sheriff’s Office Mobile Response Unit.
Deputies initially responded to the home, after receiving reports that a man was making suicidal statements. There are unconfirmed reports that when deputies approached the home, the suspect stated that he had a gun and would use it if they attempted to enter his residence.
Currently, negotiators are attempting to contact the man by bullhorn and by phone in an effort to establish a line of communication.
Several family members are on the scene, waiting anxiously and hoping for a peaceful end to the situation.
A Chaplain was seen kneeling in prayer near the Sheriff’s Office command post.
There are unfconfirmed reports that Deltona Elementary School is on Lockdown at this time.
