Storms Cause Heavy Rain, Flooding and Funnel Cloud

HERNANDO – Heavy storms moved across the area this afternoon, causing some localized street flooding, dangerous lighting and even a funnel cloud.

There are reports of flooding in the area of Mariner Blvd and Spring Hill Drive at this time. There are also reports of road damage in front of 1475 Bishop Road, as a result of possible erosion. Expect delays and possible detours in those areas.

Brian Jacobs sent in the pictures below of a funnel cloud spotted near his residence on Painted Leaf Drive in Trillium subdivision. There are no reports of damage at this time.

UPDATE 6/15/2015, 7:52 P.M. – Matt Leach sent in the image below of a water main break on Bishop Road. He says the flooding is possibly due to a digging in the area.

UPDATE: 6/152015, 8:25 P.M. – We’ve received additional images of the funnel cloud. They are pictured below.
