According to officials, witnesses told Detectives that the suspect, 55-year-old Roger Vazquez, was acting erratically and waving a gun around inside Lucky Fish Games. Another manager, Laau Paselio, contacted the owner, Jose Santana to report Vazquez’s behavior. Santana then called Vazquez’s nephew and shooting victim, 44-year-old Raymond Correa, to try and calm Vazquez down. When Correa arrived on scene, he and Paselio were able to convince Vazquez to unload the gun and place it on the counter. A short time later, Vazquez pulled a second gun and pointed it at Correa. Vazquez then shot Correa twice and then continued to shoot his nephew several times after he was on the ground. Correa died at the scene from his injuries.
After the shooting, numerous witnesses fled the business to call 911. One witness, Michael Midolo, entered the business to confront Vazquez about the shooting. Vazquez pointed a gun at Midolo and said it didn’t concern him.
Vazquez surrendered to deputies without incident upon their arrival.
Vazquez was booked into the Hernano County Jail on charges of Homicide and Aggravated Assault with a Firearm. He is currently held on a $70,000 bond.
