Suspect in Marathon Gas Station Armed Robbery in Custody
BROOKSVILLE – Earlier today, we reported that an armed robbery took place at the Marathon Gas Station, located at 600 E. Jefferson Street. Police now say they have the person responsible for the robbery in custody at the Hernando County Jail.
In a terrifying chain of events, officials say 23-year-old Anthony Elijah Thomas entered the store and made his way to the register behind the counter. He then grabbed the clerk around her neck, pointed a gun at her, and demanded money. After taking the cash, Thomas fled from the scene on foot. Information led detectives to Thomas’ location and he was taken into custody. Thomas is charged with Armed Robbery and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Thomas remains behind bars, held on a $60,000 bond.
BROOKSVILLE – Police are searching for a lone suspect who robbed the Marathon Gas Station located at 600 E. Jefferson, around 11:00 a.m. this morning.
There aren’t many details at this time; however, police say the suspect is described as a black male in his mid 20’s. The suspect displayed a small handgun and fled on foot in an unknown direction, according to officials.
