Suspected Drunk Driver Crashes into Home, Vodka and Marijuana Discovered
SPRING HILL – A Spring Hill home was damaged this evening, after witnesses say a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into the side of residence on Dothan Ave.
Witness Scott Sessa says he heard an explosion from his home on Kane Road and ran to the driver’s aid. When Sessa arrived at the scene, he observed the driver attempting to hide a bottle of vodka and several bags of marijuana under the vehicle. Sessa says he could smell marijuana emitting from the vehicle and believes the driver was extremely intoxicated.
The driver was checked out by Fire Rescue at the scene and then released to law enforcement to conduct an investigation.
Turns out, the driver didn’t crash into just anyone’s home; he plowed into the side of a law enforcement officer’s residence. We have censored the images below and will not reveal the exact location of where the crash occurred.
There were no injuries inside the home but damage to the block structure is substantial. A building inspector will determine if the occupants can remain inside the home.
The Florida Highway Patrol has taken over the investigation and will book the driver into the Hernando County Jail if he is charged.
We will update this story when more information is available.
