Suspicions of Gambling, Money Laundering, Fraud Lead to Second Sweepstakes Raid
SPRING HILL – For the second time this week, Detectives with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office raided local sweepstakes establishments, after receiving information of alleged gambling violations.
On Tuesday, Detectives raided Butter’s Place located at 90 Commercial Way, after suspicions of illegal gambling and fraud were reportedly occurring inside the business.
Detectives raided High Five Sweepstakes located at 3616 Commercial Way today, after receiving reports of money laundering and other criminal activity.
Sgt. Scott Lamia says both search warrants were served after several months of investigating, but he did not elaborate on specific charges or if there were any arrests.
We asked the Sheriff’s Office for additional information on the investigations but they declined to comment at this time.
