Suspicious Device Located inside Brooksville Business, Bomb Squad En Route

UPDATE: 1:22 P.M. – Earlier this morning, RNRF broke the news of a suspicious device discovered inside Regency Technologies on Broad Street.

Officials have now confirmed the discovery and provided the following statement:

911 dispatchers received a call from employees at Regency Technologies, 2005 Broad St., Brooksville, in reference to a suspicious device that was recently delivered to the business.
Regency Technologies is an electronic recycler, whose clients include the U.S. military.
As employees unpacked one of the computers, and opened up the battery compartment, they noticed a playdough like substance that resembled C-4 along with a blast cap and wires connected to a 9V battery.
The computer was shipped by the U.S. Military from Alabama to Brooksville to be recycled.
The computer was marked on the top with the word “Training.” All of the remaining computers in the shipment checked out normal.
In an abundance of caution the Citrus County Bomb Squad has been called in to dispose of the computer.
Regency Technologies, along with other nearby businesses, have been evacuated.
Additional details will be provided when they become available.
