Suspicious Fruitcake Found at Post Office Prompts Bomb Squad Response
HOMOSASSA – A suspicious package left outside a Post Office this morning caused quite a scare, until a bomb squad discovered what was inside.
According to officials, the call came in around 10:00 a.m. this morning from the Post Office located at a US-19 and W. Yulee Drive.
Officials say the package was wrapped in Christmas paper and left in front of the business with no visible markings.
The Citrus County Bomb Squad responded and after thorough inspection of the contents it was determined to be a simple fruitcake and not an explosive device.
The Post Office is back open and under normal operations.
