Tampa Bay Metro Market Has Lowest Fuel Prices in FL
TAMPA BAY – According to Gregg Laskoski, Senior Petroleum Analyst with GasBuddy.com, the national average price of gasoline is ($2.04/ gallon today). “If it slips below $2… and we believe that will happen in the next few days; that will be a milestone we have not seen since March 25, 2009,” says Laskoski. The Florida statewide average price is $2.09, while the Tampa Bay market, which includes Citrus, Hernando and Pasco Counties, has an average price today at $1.97.
Laskoski tells RNRF, “Even though we may be approaching the ’floor’ in crude oil pricing, there’s still room for retail prices to slip slightly lower in the weeks ahead because of the huge inventory buildup reported Thursday by the Energy Information Administration (EIA).”
“When gas prices do start climbing, which is inevitable because of EPA regulations mandating the more expensive ’summer-blend’ gasoline, we’re projecting that the Tampa market could see prices peak between $2.65 and $2.90. But for the year we expect the market to average between $2.45 and $2.65 per gallon,” he added.
Overall, the national savings in gasoline expenditures projected for 2015 versus 2014 will represent approximately $750 per person at 15,000 miles/year.
