Tear Gas Deployed to Bring Standoff to and End, Two Suspects Suffer Injuries
SPRING HILL – Numerous Sheriff’s Deputies surrounded a home on Orion Drive this today, after reports of alleged wanted suspects were hiding inside the attic and refused to surrender.
Out of an abundance of precautions, deputies deployed tear gas and entered the home with a K-9 unit. to try and coax the reluctant suspects from the attic.
Three cannisters were deployed into the attic and warnings to deploy a K-9 quickly followed. Despite their efforts, it still took several minutes for a male subject to surrender and was quickly taken into custody. Due to possible injuries from the muzzle flash, the male suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment. However, the scene was far from over.
Deputies learned that a female subject remained inside the attic, despite the area being saturated with painful teargas. About an hour later, deputies finally convinced the woman to surrender and she was also taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
None of the suspects have been booked into the Hernando County Jail at this time.
Neighbors who live near the residence say the home is a known-drug house, but those claims have not been confirmed by officials.
There are no reported injuries to law enforcement at this time.
