Teen Dies in Overnight Crash on Commercial Way
SPRING HILL – Last night, RNRF reported a two-vehicle rollover crash at the intersection of Commercial Way and Caribbean Drive.
All five occupants involved in the crash were transported to Bayonet Point Hospital for treatment, including a 12-year-old boy. Most of the injuries were minor except for one victim who was ejected from a pickup truck as it overturned.
According to reports, Matthew Denobrega, 19 and passenger Andrew Denobrega, 26, were in a Mitsubishi Lancer, preparing to cross Commercial Way from Caribbean Drive. Mariah Kneiriem, 19, passenger Cameron Meredith, 19, and a 12-year-old boy were traveling southbound on Commercial Way when Denobrega drove into the path of Kneiriem’s Ford F150 pickup truck. The collision caused the pickup to overturn several times, ejecting Meredith onto the roadway. Meredith suffered severe injuries and died early this morning at Bayonet Point Hospital. Meredith was the only occupant not wearing a seatbelt. All other occupants suffered minor injuries, according to reports.
Alcohol was not a factor, but charges are pending, say officials.
CORRECTION: Our earlier report indicated that the pickup truck was crossing Commercial Way, not the Mitsubishi Lancer. We apologize for the error.
