Terror Inside Spring Hill Home, Woman Kidnapped, Held at Gunpoint
SPRING HILL – On February 12th Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to 3287 Amherst Ave, after reports that a man was holding a woman at gunpoint inside the residence.
RNRF responded to the scene and observed a woman being placed on a gurney by Fire Rescue Personnel.
Later that evening jail records indicated that 59-year-old Michael McQuillan was arrested on charges of Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Battery, and Felony Obstruction. McQuillan was released two days later on $17,500 bond.
RNRF requested a full report of the incident, but officials stated the case was still an open investigation.
We tried speaking to witnesses at the scene, but they were too fearful to talk to us at that time.
Last night, a witness came forward and offered to tell us what she saw that day; with the condition her identity would not be revealed. We will refer to her as Jane.
Jane tells RNRF, on that afternoon, she and other neighbors heard “screams of utter terror” coming from inside the residence. Two neighbors approached the front door of the residence, says Jane, where they saw a woman lying on the floor unable to walk. One of the neighbors reached through a hole in the screen door, in an attempt to help her, but the woman screamed “He has a gun to my head!” The neighbors fled back to their residences and called 911.
Deputies arrived on the scene and coaxed the woman to crawl out through the front door. McQuillan did not immediately comply with orders to surrender, but he was eventually taken into custody without further incident.
Jane says she heard the woman had been tied to a bed and tape placed on her mouth, at some point during the ordeal. She also says the woman appeared to be on some kind of drugs or highly intoxicated; unknown if that was self-induced or given to her by McQuillan without her knowledge.
Jane says McQuillan moved to the neighborhood about 8 months ago from New York and that he was very quiet and mostly kept to himself.
The case remains an open investigation, according to officials.
