Three Confirmed Dead in Separate Brooksville Shootings, One Suspect in Custody, a Second At Large
BROOKSIVLLE – In the aftermath of last night’s terrifying home invasion shooting on Azen Loop, officials have now confirmed that at least two people are dead, and one person suffered “serious injuries.” Officials say 16-year-old Taneta Morrell and Brena Marshall were both killed inside 27378 Azen Loop. Adolphus Washington was also shot and suffered life-threatening injuries, says Sheriff Al Nienhuis. Washington was airlifted to a trauma center for treatment.
After preparing for several hours, SWAT entered 27199 Thorncrest Ave and apprehended the suspect without incident. Sheriff Al Neinhuis says the suspect is facing several felony charges and that he is the prime suspect in the shooting.
Officials have not confirmed if the shooting that occurred behind Coney Island Drive just an hour before the Azen Loop shooting are related, but some witnesses say it strange coincidence.
Brooksville Police responded to Coney Island Drive Inn, located at 1112 E. Jefferson Street, after receiving reports of a shooting. Owner John Lee tells RNRF that his employees witnessed a black vehicle and a white vehicle parked in a dimly lit area behind the business, around 8:00 p.m. Lee says a white male exited the black car, retrieved something from the trunk and then entered the white car. A few minutes later, witnesses say the white male exited the vehicle and began shooting into the vehicle before fleeing the scene. The driver of the white vehicle drove to Bayfront Health Brooksville on Cortez Blvd, where a shooting victim was dropped off at the Emergency Room.
Brooksville Police announced today that the victim, 21-year-old De’Aundre Roberts, later died from his injuries.
