Three Controlled Burns Could Cause Smokey Conditions Across the Area
REGIONAL – Smoke is in the air. At least that’s what could be expected across our region again today, as the Florida Forestry Service conducts three controlled burns across Citrus and Hernando Counties.
According the FFS, a 400-acre burn will take place on the Two Mile Prairie Tract in the northern part of Citrus County. It will be located north of CR 491 and south/southwest of CR39.
A 960-acre burn will take place on CR 491, west of Trail 13 in Citrus County.
A 760-acre burn in Hernando County will take place on the Croom Tract of the Withlacoochee State Forest, north of Croom Road and east of Dempsey Road.
Last week, a 1,000-acre burn in Citrus County caused extremely low visibility for drivers, and breathing problems for some residents throughout Hernando and Pasco Counties.
Currently, winds are out of the west between 7 and 10 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
