Three Cuban Nationals Among 22 Arrested in Multi-County Drug Ring
BROOKSVILLE – The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the arrest of three Cuban Nationals, as part of ongoing multi-agencies investigation into a Cuban drug trafficking organization called “Hydro Hustlers.”
According to officials, Vice and Narcotics Detectives executed a search warrant at 25318 Ash street this morning, after a year-long investigation that began in Hillsborough County.
Detectives discovered a sophisticated marijuana grow operation inside the residence, where they confiscated 50 plants – totaling 85 pounds of marijuana.
Members of Withlacoochee River Electric responded to the scene and were able to safely disconnect the wires that were utilized for the power diversion.
The following three suspects were taken into custody and found to be connected to the Cuban Drug Trafficking Organization.
29-year-old Yariel Gomez Ortega, 38-year-old Dynleki Santana, and 20-year-old Elianys Roque Cabrera are all charged with Manufacturing Marijuana among other related charges. Each is currently held on a $10,000 bond in the Hernando County Jail.
It is not known if U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement will join the investigation or place additional holds on those charged.
The investigation continues into the Hydro Hustlers and additional arrests are expected.
